Georgia Lazoglou
Academic Status: Climatologist
Institution: The Cyprus Institute
Subject: Analysis of climate change using statistical methods
e-mail:g.lazoglou@cyi.ac.cy
Research Interests: Her research interests include Extreme Climate Events, Climate Change and Impacts, Bias Correction, Statistical Downscaling, Mediterranean Climate, Climate Statistics, Hydro-climatic Extremes. Today she is a Post-Doctoral Fellow Researcher in the Environmental Predictions Department of CYI's Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C). She holds a BSc in Mathematics, an MSc in Meteorology, Climatology and Atmospheric Environment, and a Ph.D. in Climatology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. During her Ph.D., she studied extreme temperature and precipitation events in the Mediterranean region, using the Extreme Value Theory. She has also developed an innovative advanced statistical method, named the 'TIN-Copula', which can be used for the bias adjustment of atmospheric and climate data. She has published over 20 papers in peer-reviewed journals on these subjects and has participated in several international scientific conferences.
